Delicious
"Folksonomy" or social tagging software such as Delicious, Technorati and Digg are a great way to manage your bookmarks online and to find relevant articles that others have tagged (and a great way of sharing sources). Try using one for the IS6110 project and I think you will find it far more useful than a google search when looking for relevant (online) sources. Of course, EBSCO, Google Scholar and Science Direct are still important for searching for 'academic' sources. My del.icio.us page is here

XBRL
Is XBRL the magic bullet that will prevent a repeat of the current crisis in the financial markets? Maybe. Hopefully it's a start.
This article from the Guardian shows that half of the top 12 biggest % daily falls in the FTSE have occurred in 2008. It reminds me of the following analogy from the communist manifesto:
"Modern bourgeois society, with its relations of production, of exchange and of property, a society that has conjured up such gigantic means of production and of exchange, is like the sorcerer who is no longer able to control the powers of the nether world whom he has called up by his spells (Marx and Engels, 1848)".

The End of Web 2.0?
Not sure I would agree with everything in this article but it is interesting nonetheless. Tim O'Reilly's interview in the LA Times where he tells developers to get serious and "stop designing software that lets you throw sheep at your friends" is also worth a look.
Intellipedia - a Wikipedia for the CIA
The CIA are using a wikipedia style site in the for the sharing of intelligence info.
It's an interesting application of a social software platform in a large organisation.
